Like most towns in Tennessee, Lynchburg is very old, having been here since the settlers finally found the Cumberland Gap and made their way into Tennessee. Its most famous resident, Jack Newton Daniel, walked the streets of town from the middle of the 1800’s into the early 1910’s. While things have obviously changed in some ways, you’ll still find things like Miss Mary Bobo’s Boarding House where Mr. Daniel no doubt ate some noon meals. Miss Mary Bobo’s personal house sits just north of town on your way in from Tullahoma.
The square is lined with unique shops. A hundred and fifty years ago, folks no doubt found shops providing the essentials to run their farm or care for their horses. Today there are all sorts of shops that sell souvenirs related to Jack Daniel’s whiskey, Tennessee, and Lynchburg, along with those that sell unique gifts, household items, and even yeast and supplies for making your own wine or beer. Lullette’s, with our store-made chocolates and bakery treats, along with candies you would have found half a century ago, fits right into a town that honors the past when things were just a bit slower than today.
So, if you’re visiting Nashville or Memphis, after you’ve spent some crazy nights in the honky tonks and the clubs and need a break, come on down and spend a day enjoying the slow life. Visit some shops, sample some traditional Tennessee Barbeque (pulled pork is what the region does best), have a cone at Prince’s Parlor, then stop by Lullette’s for some chocolates and treats to take home. Maybe grab a cupcake or two with a cup of coffee and sit out on our walk and just savor a beautiful day in the hollow. We’ve got a tub of fudge with your name on it.
